Celebrating 35 Years
of Service to Weiss

Weiss' Founders Ralph and George Delano together with their partners (and sons), Brian and Wayne, got together to celebrate a very special employee at Weiss Sheet Metal, Tommie Smalls.

For his 35 years of service to Weiss, Tommie was surprised with a party that included a catered lunch for Tommie, his co-workers and the Weiss staff.

It was 35 years ago, Tommie Smalls (left) began his career at Weiss. During that time he has worked primarily as a grinder/polisher.

Originally from South Carolina, Tommie came to the Boston area in search of greater employment opportunities. In 1973, he applied for a job at Weiss. At that time the company was located in Roxbury and had only 5 or 6 employees.

Having experience working for a large sheet metal company in Boston, Tommie was a welcome hire for the young company.

When Weiss moved to Avon, Tommie came along. He explains his longevity in this way, "I have always been treated well here," and he adds with a twinkle in his eye, "I had 9 kids to support, 21 grandkids and 1 great-grand child."

Tommie says he is looking forward to celebrating 40 years with Weiss in 2013. He will be joined at that time by several other employees who will reach the 30 year mark. Weiss is fortunate to have long term loyal employees like Tommie who are true metal working craftsmen.

Says Tommie, "It's a good place to work!"
